What Matters? (Part 2)

Sunday Service

  • 19 Feb 17
  • Pastor Al Hall
  • What Matters? (You Matter)
  • Part 2

“They” Matter

  • Love others
  • g. Trump, Quaid Cooper, Aunty Helen, rugby referees, David Bain (whether innocent or guilty)
  • Even somebody who hates me

That’s a big ask:

  • What about the dude who cut me off on the motorway?
  • God says you must start from a position of love.

John 13:34-35

  1. Now I am giving you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
  2. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Love Others

  1. Love is proof
    1. The world will judge us here.
  2. Love is life
    1. When I interact with someone, do they come away with a sense that I care about them?
      1. “What kind of day are you having today?”
      2. “Great to see you!”
    2. Love costs… little
      1. Monetary value proves nothing
      2. Take your mind out of your current situation and think about the other person.
    3. Love rewards
      1. God will repay.
    4. Love wins!
      1. Only love is eternal, because God is love

James says:

  • This is an interesting interpretation of John 13.
  • Without disputing anything Al has said, I’d always previously interpreted this as His disciples should love one another especially.

Philippians 4:13

  • I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
  • This verse is not just for athletes.
  • Don’t do this alone. Ask the Lord for strength.

  • Jesus takes the “t” out of “Can’t”, by his sacrifice on the Cross.
  • You “can”, because he died for you.

  1. Everybody does matter whether you dislike a certain group of people – you should always love and be Christ like – all forms of people have an interesting story to tell. Leave it to God to judge – if people do you a disservice – always remember that’s whatever they go through,it’s not their fault in anyway – look at their background.,and just let it go.Our lord at the end of the day will seek those who do us wrong. Always smile.
