The End (Part 3)

The End (Part 3)

  • Brent Davie
  • Daniel in the Lion’s Den

Are you a proud Kiwi?

  • If so, why?
  • We are great at “punching above our weight” e.g. being the underdogs.
  • There’s a few stories in the Bible about the underdog winning.

Daniel 12: The End Times

  • That we are protected people
  • That there will be
    • distress,
    • deliverance,
    • resurrection,
    • everlasting life,
    • everlasting death,
    • pain for followers of Jesus,
    • unknown time for the end of the world,
    • some people made clean,
    • some people continue to be wicked,
    • time of rest after death,
    • inheritance to come

Daniel 12 vv8 & 9

  • I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
  • He replied, “Go your way, Daniel because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end.”

Daniel 12 v 13

  • We love the end of this story.
  • But would you stand firm during the bad time, in order to win through to the end?

Dan 6:5

  • Daniel and the Scary Sleepover
  • “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel.”
  • His reputation was impeccable.
  • They had to change the law, in order to trip him up.

1 Peter 5:8

  • Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
  • The devil wanted Daniel.
  • He also wants you.

John 15:1-8

  • The Vine and the Branches
  • Apart from remaining in fellowship with Jesus, we have no strength to repel the Devil.

Daniel 6:10

  • “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room… and prayed…”
  • No hesitation, no crisis of faith, no blaming God, no “oh woe is me”, no speeches.
  • He would rather die, than not pray for 30 days.

How’s your prayer life today?

  • 3 times a day?
  • 3 times a year?

Options for Daniel

  • Pray in secrecy?
  • Delay prayer for 30 days?
  • Daniel recognized that to do so, would have made God less than #1 in his life.

Daniel and the Scary Sleepover

  • God would keep on rescuing his people. And the time was coming when God would send another brave Hero, like Daniel, who would love God and do what He said – whatever it cost him, even if it meant he would die.
  • And together they would pull off the Greatest Rescue the World has ever known.
