On Mission

  • Telling others about Jesus
  • AKA Evangelism
  • We all could be doing better.
  • One of Arnie’s personal goals for the church.

Last Week

  • Four people accepted Jesus as their saviour.
  • Four people had their lives turned around from going to Hell to going to Heaven.
  • They met the One who made them, who loves them and who has a future for them.
  • What could be better?
  • Nothing

Nothing but the Facts, Ma’am:

  1. There is work to be done.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”
    Matthew 9:37-38
    Harvest time is hard work.
It is the end of a process, which you may not have started.
  2. Jesus has commanded you to do it.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
    Matthew 28:18-20
    We are in partnership.
We are not doing this alone.
He has promised His authority in this endeavour.
  3. Success is guaranteed.
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold.  I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice.  So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
    John 10:16
He will do it, through you.
  4. Jesus is the only salvation.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”
    John 14:6
He is the only path (since He is the only God).

These simple facts should spur us on.

  • But then we start to think about our workplace, our family, or our friends.
  • Like, Peter walking on water, we take our eyes off Jesus, and sink.

Simple methods to get people saved:

  • Just invite somebody to your church.
  • Take a pumpkin around to welcome new refugees to our country.
  • At the local dairy.
  • At a revival tent meeting.

In 2014, we need to rediscover the old-school basics:

  • There is a heaven
  • There is a hell
  • There is a Saviour who loves us
  • You need to make a decision

We need to rediscover, how to share this message in 2014.

  • What’s important to you?
  • Promotion, Playstation, Sport?
  • What’s more important than saving somebody’s life?
