Hippolite Musings

Thought for the Day

Gentlemen,

Today I’m a humbled man.  I’ve had some feedback that I’m being too confrontational.  I want to be encouraging, so I’m asking you “what’s important, and what’s not?”

Blessings,
James

Forging Tomorrow’s Men Launches in Wellington

Promise Keepers got off to a powerful start with the vibrant music team and multimedia. A big crowd of over 850 men responded strongly to the salvation message brought by Peter Whaanga. There were 16 recommitments and 5 first time commitments!

Nick Tuitasi rounded out the evening, looking at what it really means to be “forged for the future” as a man, God’s ultimate man! Both men gave personal insights about how God has transformed their lives.

Saturday will be a full-on day with Ivan Bezzant kicking things off. He is followed by Jim Hurn who is always popular because he communicates at such a real level.

Remember that there will be four specialist breakouts:

  • Church for Men for pastors and Men’s Ministry leaders
  • Transition for young men 11 – 17
  • Stance for young adults 18 – 30
  • Single Focus for single men 30+

Each breakout has a targeted program and experienced speaking team.
Mike Gorrie, Tim Sisarich and David Dishroon round out the day. James, we hope you can be with us at Promise Keepers on Saturday. If you can’t join us, please pray for the Event and for transformed lives.

Nick Tuitasi

North Korea Announces Its Uranium Weapons PowerSeptember 04, 2009
Suddenly, North Korea’s peace offensive has exploded in a mushroom cloud with word from Pyongyang that the North’s nuclear wizards are about to enter "the completion stage" of their program to develop nuclear warheads with highly enriched uranium. Pyongyang said on Friday it was in the final stage of enriching uranium, a process that would give it a path to making nuclear weapons other than plutonium-based devices.

Forget Roundup, Just Rent GoatsSeptember 04, 2009
With their four-chambered stomachs and insatiable desire to nibble on anything even resembling a plant, goats are gaining credibility as land clearers. As a result, the U.S. environmental movement has come up with a novel way to destroy large extensions of invasive weeds and grasses: Rent a Goat. So far, the results look like a win-win situation for all. Voice Of America

Replacing God With The UniverseSeptember 04, 2009
"Universal" is the "it" word, as in universal health care or "The Universe will guide me," or "Leave it to the Universe." There was a different word for it back in the day, more imposing but less confusing: God. But God is not a trendy word anymore. God is not popular, just like the Republicans. You are guilty by association with both… Big Hollywood

UNFPA Bars Conservatives From Berlin "Sexual and Reproductive Rights" Conference

By Samantha Singson

(NEW YORK – C-FAM) Last week, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the German government held a conference in Berlin to promote "sexual and reproductive rights." Despite being billed as a "global" event, conference organizers admitted to deliberately blocking any participation from anyone in either the media or civil society who did not agree with their "reproductive rights" agenda. Four hundred delegates from 131 countries attended the "Global NGO Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Development."

Centre for Reproductive Rights Boasts of Global Abortion Push

By Piero A. Tozzi

(NEW YORK – C-FAM)  New York-based public interest law firm Centre for Reproductive Rights (CRR) released its 2008 Annual Report this week, touting efforts to promote abortion worldwide and listing yearly revenue of nearly $13 million. The report highlights a global caseload that appears disproportionately directed at expanding access to abortion and contraceptives in traditionally Catholic countries. Its 2008 docket includes three proceedings each against Poland and Peru, and two each against Mexico and Costa Rica, in fora ranging from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to national Supreme Courts.

Israeli Ambassador Dore Gold’s Iran Blockbuster Makes Washington Post Bestseller List

Dear Friend of Jerusalem,

Thanks to the One Jerusalem family and others concerned about the nuclearization of Iran, Dore Gold’s The Rise of Nuclear Iran has become a bestseller.

Gold’s book proves that the Obama – European Union policy of engaging Iran in talks is a total failure and must be abandoned.
Strong sales in our nation’s capital show that Gold’s book is having an impact on policymakers.

It is  an objective of One Jerusalem to help this book change our disastrous policy that is leading to Achmadinejad gaining nuclear capabilities.

The success of our efforts has resulted in a major think tank hosting Dore Gold, his multiple appearances on radio and television, a One Jerusalem Bloggers Call and invitations to address members of Congress.

The more attention Gold and the book get the greater the impact. You can help by purchasing a copy now. You will benefit from reading this important book and by spreading its message.

Politicians take notice when a book reaches the bestseller list. Let’s keep it there.

Sincerely,
Allen Roth & David Goder

PERFORMANCE & not POSITION

A priest dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who’s dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket and jeans.  Saint Peter addresses him, "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you into the Kingdom of Heaven?"   The guy replies, "I’m Joe Cohen, taxi driver, from New York."

Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the taxi driver, "Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

Now it’s the priest’s turn. He stands erect and booms out, "I am the Right Reverend Joseph Snow, pastor of Saint Mary’s for the last forty-three years."  Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the priest, "Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Just a minute," says the priest. "That man was a taxi driver. Why does he get a silken robe and golden staff?"

"Results," shrugged Saint Peter.  "While you preached, people slept. When he drove, people prayed."

It’s PERFORMANCE & not POSITION that ultimately counts.

  2. Depends what you want to use this forum for. If it is a place of challenging and thus sharpening others, and I love a bit of controvosy ! then go for it. If it is a place of sharing and learning and blessing you will need to be careful not to offend. Offended people will not return to get the blessings in other areas. Think of it from a sales perspective. But at the end of the day it is your blog and you should be free to run it any way you see fit. Home schooling is fine for people who are afraid of reality.
